TRICOVIVAX is a hair growth stimulant medication, available as a cutaneous solution, dosed at 5% (50 mg/ml) of minoxidil (active substance). TRICOVIVAX belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group 13.8.4. Medications used in skin conditions. Other medications used in dermatology. Products for androgenetic alopecia.

TRICOVIVAX is intended for external use, exclusively on the scalp. TRICOVIVAX is indicated for the treatment of androgenetic and areata alopecia (hair loss).

Properties of TRICOVIVAX:

Minoxidil was launched on the pharmaceutical market as an antihypertensive agent, administered orally.

Interestingly, a large percentage of patients undergoing treatment with minoxidil presented with hypertrichosis (local or generalized increase in hair growth). This fact led to numerous studies on the topical application of minoxidil solutions in the treatment of alopecia (commonly known as baldness) of various etiologies. These studies have demonstrated that the drug, when applied topically, is a hair growth stimulant, effective in treating androgenetic alopecia (typically male pattern baldness) and alopecia areata (usually of nervous origin, and commonly known as "baldness"), with a significant absence of undesirable systemic effects and excellent local tolerance. The mechanism by which topical minoxidil and/or its metabolite stimulates hair growth has not yet been elucidated, but it is thought to act at the level of the hair follicle, involving increased blood flow to the scalp resulting from local vasodilation. Percutaneous absorption of minoxidil is approximately 0.3% to 4.5% of the total dose applied after topical administration of 2% hydroalcoholic solutions containing propylene glycol. However, systemic absorption of minoxidil when applied topically is variable and depends on several factors, including the vehicle used in the formulation, the area of application, skin conditions, as well as... The extent of absorption through the skin varies from person to person. Sale reserved for individuals over 16 years of age. Non-prescription medicine. Read the information leaflet carefully and if in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
